An NRI is an Indian Citizen who has migrated to another country in search of better prospects or for any other reasons. They are scattered in regions such as South East Asia, United States of America, United Kingdom, Myanmar, Soudi Arabia, Pilipines, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, North America, Canada, Fiji etc.

The term Indian Diaspora typically covers NRIs :%$amp; PIOs (Person of Indian Orgin), and it is very special for India as these people have carved a niche for themselves in an alienated world :%$amp; external surroundings.

Pravasi Bhartiya Divas is also one major initiative taken by the government to extend a welcome note to all its NRIs in the world. After all this land belongs to them as well. These days steps have been taken by the government to bring these NRI's back to the roots of our country, to lessen the exodus of skilled :%$amp; intellectual manpower to other countries.

Government of India, a few years back had established a high level committee under the leadership of Dr. L M Sanghvi, with the mandate of understanding the problems :%$amp; difficulties faced and hopes :%$amp; expectations of the Indian communities worldwide.

Whenever you speak to NRIs settled in whichever part of the world, you would see that most of them carry their motherland in their hearts somewhere, they have cherished the memories :%$amp; preserved the values which India had taught them.
